1910 WORLD SERIES BASEBALL GAME USED AND INSCRIBED BASEBALL - PHILADELPHIA ATHLETICS VS CHICAGO CUBS
Description: One of the most rare and early World Series Baseballs in existence is this 1910 World Series game used and inscribed baseball. Ultra Rare T.J. Lynch National League Spalding Baseball with period ink inscription attributing its usage to the final game of the 1910 World Series.
Ball is dated Oct. 23, 1910 with lengthy ink inscriptions regarding its presentation to Chas. L. Hansen from Cubs pitcher Bill Foxen. The notations include the series score, players names, and the Cubs history of winning four NL pennants and two World Series. Ball exhibits evident usage while retaining its original stampings and President's signature (w/1910 dating). The mighty Athletics finished off the Cubs in just five games winning the final game at Chicago handily by a score of 7-2. Desirable historic ball from the peak of the A's first dynasty. CUBS VS ATHLETICS 1910 WORLD SERIES
The first decade of World Series baseball came to a close as two
regulars, the Chicago Cubs (making their fourth appearance) and
Philadelphia Athletics (making their second) went head-to-head for the
championship title. Both teams were powerhouses with the A's chalking
one-hundred two victories and winning their pennant by fourteen games.
The A's boasted three .300 hitters with Eddie Collins, Rube Oldring and
Danny Murphy and a thirty-one game winner in Jack Coombs, a
twenty-seven year-old righthander who was 12-12 the previous season.
Both teams suffered devastating injures and would not be at full
strength for the Series. The Cubs had lost second baseman Johnny Evers
to a broken ankle and Philadelphia was missing Oldring with a broken
leg and pitcher Eddie Plank who was suffering from an arm ailment.
