This was the very first annual 400-Lap National Championship Stock Car Race held in Riverside, California. Some of the famous drivers that day were Dick Petty in a 1963 Plymouth, Bobby Johns in a 1963 Pontiac, Troy Ruttman in a 1963 Mercury, Parnelli Jones in a 1963 Mercury, Roger Ward in a 1963 Mercury, A.J. Foyt in a 1963 Ford, Dariel Dieringer in a 1963 Mercury, Paul Goldsmith in a 1963 Plymouth, Fred Lorenzen in a 1963 Ford, Roger Penske in a 1963 Dodge and Dan Gurney in a 1963 Ford. Inside there are neat race articles such as one about defending champ Joe Weatherly, and also articles on drivers Buck Baker, AJ Foyt, Dan Gurney, Ned Jarrett, Junior Johnson, Parnelli Jones, Fred Lorenzen, Marvin Panch, David Pearson, Roger Penske, Dick Petty, Fireball Roberts, Rodger Ward, Troy Ruttman and Rex White.
