John Glenn--First American to orbit the earth aboard Friendship 7 on the Mercury Atlas 6 Mission, He is also a member of the Astronaut Hall of Fame.
Buzz Aldrin--was the Lunar Module Pilot on Apollo 11, the first lunar landing. He was the second person to set foot on the Moon, after Mission Commander Neil Armstrong.
Frank Borman--best remembered as the Commander of Apollo 8, the first mission to fly around the Moon, making him one of the first of only 24 men to do so.
Charles Conrad--was the third person to walk on the moon. He also claims to be the first man to have danced on the Moon. He served on Gemini 5 and 11, Apollo 12, and Skylab 2 missions.
Gordon Cooper--one of the seven original astronauts in Project Mercury, the first manned-space effort by the United States. He flew the longest spaceflight of the Mercury project, was the first American to sleep in orbit and has been noted as the last American (thus far) to launch alone into earth orbit and conduct an entire solo orbital mission.
Alan Shepard--was the second person in space (he was the first American in space). He later commanded the Apollo 14 mission, and was the fitth person to walk on the moon.
