1981/1982 De Rosa

This De Rosa is a sweet handling bike. When I purchased this bike it was very scratched up and the decals were in terrible condition. So I stripped the frame and took it to Davinci Tandems to have it painted, so the paint is nice and thin, to not loose any of the lug details. I also had them add a slight flattening agent to the clear coat, so the bike would look more like it would have in 1981 instead of a over glossy new paint job. Looks great with red highlights and the period Benotto cell-o-tape. I’ve seen different decals on other De Rosa’s from around this period, but these are the style decals that were on the frame before I stripped it. This bike is just a little too small for me so it leaves the collection. It is built with a period clincher wheelset, so no sew-up issues. This bike is absolutely beautiful, but it does have some issues. First the brake levers have been on the ground and have some scratches on the levers. One brake lever hood has cracks and should be replaced. The SL pedals plastic end caps have also had some contact with the pavement, the black on the pedals has been touched-up. I do not have any drop out adjuster screws. The following parts are original, or at least came with the bike: derailleurs, shifters, brakes, headset, crankarms and pedals. The rest of the parts that came with the bike were not proper and were replaced by me.
